THE SECOND ANNUAL STORIED STUFF SUMMER WRITING CONTEST:
Using blind judging, our judges will read the first fifty pieces—true stories about important/cherished keepsakes- sent to us at editor@storied-stuff.com by a July 25 deadline. Sharon and Steve will not be judging. Word limit (500 word max). Text format (.docx), not pdf, please. Photo of keepsake/object must accompany piece, preferably as jpeg—and not embedded in the .docx. One piece per writer.Take a look at the stories we’ve posted over the last five years to get a sense of what we are looking for. All pieces that meet our standards will be published over the next year. The winner and three runners-up will be published on consecutive Wednesdays in August or September. Submissions that don’t make the 50-piece limit will not be eligible for the contest, but will still be published in the future assuming they meet our standards. The winner will receive a modest prize (to be announced) and, of course, a nice honor to be listed on a bio. All pieces submitted before this announcement on June 22 are already in our queue and are not eligible for the contest, but the writers of those pieces are encouraged to enter the contest with new pieces. We will also be accepting pieces from those who have never been published on the site.
Once a piece is submitted, we will not accept revised entries; so please make sure you are happy and finished with the piece before sending.
Please put “Contest” in the subject box.
